Kitchen Refresh of Sioux Falls Volunteers for Repair Affair

Chuck and Jennifer Limoges from the Kitchen Refresh Sioux Falls Territory were among the volunteers for the 2020 Sioux Empire Home Builders Repair Affair Day program on Thursday, Aug. 20.

The focus of this one-day annual event is to make homes more accessible for the elderly or those with a permanent physical disability. The projects are at no cost to the homeowners and all funds are provided by a grant from the city of Sioux Falls Housing Division and through the Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation.

“This was a huge job for one day but it was fun,” Jennifer shared of the home ramp project their group had been assigned, “but we had a great team of contractors and other home building support businesses pitching in.”

Jennifer also shared this particular homeowner had not been able to go outside for over 3 years due to lack of a ramp. “She came out when we were cleaning up and asked if I thought she could make it on the ramp. I said she should give it a try - she did - and she was so appreciative,” Jennifer said. “It is so well worth giving back to the community when you have an opportunity.”

Since 1993, volunteers in the program have donated over 6,000 hours by working on 250 accessibility-related projects throughout the Sioux Falls region.
